    New DGNB ‘Climate Positive’ award for buildings that make an active contribution to climate protection

    As many studies highlight, the property industry plays a pivotal role in achieving climate protection goals. What they often fail to mention is that there are already a number of buildings that actively contribute to these goals. This was the motivation behind the Climate Positive award recently launched by the DGNB. To receive the award, the carbon emissions generated when using and operating a building must still be lower than the volume of carbon emissions the building avoids in the first place by producing and exporting energy with zero greenhouse emissions. The DGNB honoured the first eleven projects that demonstrate that this is already possible at the Expo Real trade fair in Munich.   more

    DGNB cooperates in Spain: Green Building Council España becomes new partner

    The DGNB and the Green Building Council España (GBCe) have agreed on a comprehensive partnership. As part of the DGNB Sustainability Day on 25 June 2019 in Stuttgart and on 11 July in Madrid, both organisations signed a corresponding cooperation agreement. In the course of the cooperation, among other things, the DGNB certification system for sustainable buildings is being adapted for the Spanish market. It is also planned to link up with the VERDE system developed by the GBCe. In the future, the Council will act as a certification body for DGNB-certified projects in Spain. The overall objective of the partnership is to establish a common European understanding of the requirements of sustainable construction.   more

    Expo Real 2017: DGNB witnesses record number of certifications

    As part of Expo Real on 4 - 6 October in Munich, no less than 90 projects will receive a DGNB certificate – the highest ever number in the ten-year history of the non-profit organisation. This will include the first pre-certificates created as part of the new Version 2017 of the DGNB certification system. A further premiere will be the bestowal of the first DGNB Certificates for Sustainable Interiors. The DGNB is appearing at Expo Real on Stand 334 in Hall A2.   more

    Successful première of Consense Lounge

    Messe Stuttgart and the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) reached an important milestone on the road to Consense 2014: The DGNB Impuls and the joint Consense Lounge celebrated a successful première. The new event format attracted 300 visitors and prospective customers right from the start and highlighted the huge interest in the area of "Sustainable building".   more

In an effort to promote sustainable building, the Council resolved to develop a certification system to identify and to distinguish particularly environmentally friendly, economically efficient buildings that conserve resources and have been optimized in terms of user comfort – the DGNB Certificate.   more
