Laboratory buildings are mostly used for scientific purposes as well as for office and administrative activities. These applications are taken into account in the scheme for new laboratory buildings.
A virtual laboratory building provides a reliable baseline for comparing various types of laboratory use. It defines minimum technical requirements and guidance for construction. As laboratories have high energy requirements, the application-oriented usage profile reflects this value in the certification.
A special focus is placed on the mandatory safety and waste policy. This ensures that no dangerous substances can get into the environment.
The DGNB System Version 2020 International is not yet available for this scheme. However, DGNB Auditors with German language skills can combine and adapt the full range of current German schemes with DGNB System Version 2020 International in order to certify other building types.
